Intermountain Health caregivers treat fans in need of medical attention while attending 2024 Super Bowl Experience at Mandalay Bay

Intermountain Health, the Official Medical Partner for the Super Bowl LVIII Host Committee, staffed several first aid stations with clinical caregivers during the Big Game week at the Super Bowl Experience at Mandalay Bay.

The caregivers handled a multitude of injuries throughout the week, varying from minor to more severe ones that required hospital transports throughout the week.

“We have seen a lot of injuries from people not being prepared,” said Rebecca Holt, Executive Nurse Director for Ambulatory Care for Intermountain Health’s Desert Region, which includes southern Nevada and southwest Utah. “They are not hydrating, they are not eating.”

The caregivers saw people with diabetes issues, dehydration, fainting, and more. They also treated hamstring and ankle injuries sustained during the event activities, such as the 40-yard dash. The more serious conditions included cardiovascular issues.

“We are used to providing stellar care and we have done the same thing here,” said Holt. “Our guests and the employees here have been so grateful to have the services. Whether you had a headache, whether you need your ankle splinted, whether you need the ambulance to transport you, people just have been very grateful for our service.”

In total, around 55 caregivers worked shifts totaling a combined several hundred hours over five days to care for our community and visitors in town for one of the world’s largest sporting events.
