Scania launches new generation Scania Touring
PR Newswire
SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden, Oct. 7, 2026
SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The long-awaited new generation Scania Touring features a contemporary exterior design with a clear Scania identity, better aerodynamics, digital rear-view mirrors and the highly efficient Super powertrain platform. The driver benefits from improved visibility and a new central information display. This adds to the new interior, with updated passenger amenities and enhanced comfort, and to the increased luggage capacity.
After years of anticipation, Scania introduces a new generation Scania Touring, a milestone in the company’s coach offering. The new generation builds on a proven product concept while bringing the exterior, passenger environment, driver area and powertrain features to new levels.
Scania Touring has been a vital part of Scania’s bus and coach portfolio since its introduction in 2009. The new generation builds on a product that has gained strong commercial momentum and recognition in the travel segment in recent years, including the Sustainable Bus Award 2025 for the gas-driven Scania Touring.
“The new generation Scania Touring is a significant improvement of what is already an advanced and highly appreciated coach. It combines the reliability and energy efficiency that customers expect from Scania with a much anticipated, new Scania-specific design as well as key upgrades in luggage capacity and for the driver and passenger experience,” says Sundeep Kumar, Head of Portfolio Management, People Transport Solutions, Scania.
A sleek and carefully thought-out exterior design
One of the most visible updates is the exterior design. The new Scania Touring has a contemporary expression, with Scania design language integrated into the front, sides and rear for a clean and elegant, yet robust, look. The redesigned exterior is, however, more than a visual update. Improved aerodynamics reduce energy consumption, and lower noise levels. Digital rear-view mirrors contribute to the reduced air drag, while supporting manoeuvrability and visibility, and the high position of the rear lights make the vehicle visible even from a distance. The result is a coach that presents a modern appearance, while supporting efficiency, comfort and safety in daily operations.
A positive driver- and passenger experience
The driver area has been further developed to support visibility, control and the overall driver experience in everyday use. Improved driver visibility is achieved through updates to the front door and side window, with the B-pillar placed 90 mm further back, giving the driver a noticeably better view of the surroundings. The coach also expands the digital Smart Dash interface for drivers with a central information display that features important functionalities like passenger infotainment, navigation and reverse camera, and that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The passenger experience is a key part of travel operations and the passenger area is designed for a modern and cohesive onboard environment. Wider and deeper staircase steps improve accessibility, while redesigned luggage racks and increased luggage compartment capacity support the practical needs of longer journeys. The new Scania Touring also offers upgraded interior design options, including Kiel Avance X seats with USB-C ports, new colour and trim alternatives, updated service sets and ambient lighting that contribute to the travel experience.
A strong value proposition
In comparison with its predecessors, the Euro 7-prepared Super powertrain typically reach 8 to 10 percent in fuel and emissions savings, alongside easier maintenance and a 25 percent extended lifespan, adding up to great reliability and performance. Further, a reduced number of parts, improved parts availability and Scania’s service offering help operators keep vehicles on the road and reduce the risk of operational disruptions. This is especially important in travel operations, where vehicle availability directly affects customer experience and business performance.
As a complete coach offering, the Scania Touring brings together chassis, body, powertrain, driver area, passenger environment and services in one solution.
“With the new generation Scania Touring, we have refined the whole vehicle and user experience with a state-of-the art design, improved comfort, efficiency, and uptime. All in all, the new Scania Touring provides great value for operators, drivers and passengers,” Kumar concludes.
In line with Scania’s strategy to support the sustainability journey of customers with differing needs and prerequisites, operators can expect the new Scania Touring to also be introduced on other, recently launched powertrain platforms, as part of a phased rollout in which the BEV variant will be first out.
