Veteran technology and transformation leader Chetan D. Kandhari has been named Chief Information Officer at Mutual of Omaha, Chairman and CEO James Blackledge announced.

Kandhari most recently served as Chief AI and Digital Transformation Officer at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., where he has held a variety of technology leadership roles including SVP and CIO for Enterprise Applications, and CIO for Personal Lines and Direct Distribution.

“With more than 25 years of strategic technology leadership, Chetan is a respected technology and transformation executive who has led large-scale modernization, digital innovation and enterprise technology strategy,” Blackledge said. “With his depth of technology and insurance industry experience, I’m confident that Chetan will be an excellent fit as we position ourselves for the future.”

Prior to joining Nationwide in 2005, Kandhari held technology and consulting roles at Ernst & Young and Diamond Technology Partners. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Muskingum College, a master’s degree in computer science from Miami University of Ohio and an MBA from The Ohio State University.
