SACRAMENTO, CA, UNITED STATES, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Artificial Christmas trees remain the top choice of trees for most U.S. households, according to new survey data released by the American Christmas Tree Association (ACTA).

As higher prices squeeze household budgets, Americans are looking for thoughtful ways to make the most of the holiday season without sacrificing the traditions that bring joy, comfort, and connection. At the heart of those traditions is the Christmas tree—the centerpiece of holiday celebrations in homes across the country.

New research shows that artificial Christmas trees remain the preferred choice for most American households planning to display a tree this season. According to a national survey conducted online by Ipsos for the American Christmas Tree Association (ACTA), 78% of households planning to display a Christmas tree this season intend to choose an artificial tree, and another 5% plan to display both types of Christmas trees, totaling 83% planning to display an artificial tree in their home. This reflects a preference that has remained strong for more than a decade.

For families navigating a challenging economy, an artificial tree offers a practical way to preserve a cherished holiday tradition while making a smart long-term spending decision. Its durability and reusability allow families to enjoy the same tree year after year, while the wide range of styles, sizes, and price points makes it easier to find an option that fits both their homes and their budgets. Our survey found that many Americans set their tree up early to enjoy a long holiday season with their Christmas tree, with 42% setting up their Christmas tree on or before Thanksgiving weekend.

“Even when household budgets are under pressure, families are looking for ways to hold on to the joy and traditions that make Christmas so special,” said Jami Warner, executive director of the American Christmas Tree Association. “Families gather, make memories, and pass down family traditions around a Christmas tree. An artificial tree can be a practical investment, helping families to celebrate year after year.”

“We also love seeing families express their own holiday spirit—from elegant, pre-lit trees to traditional evergreen styles, colorful trees, and homes featuring multiple trees, including real trees. There’s no single right way to celebrate Christmas, and there’s no such thing as a bad Christmas tree. There’s a perfect tree for everyone.”
