Ask a nail salon owner what worries them most and it is usually not rent or supplies. It is that they cannot find good techs.
Polish Perfect, a website built for the nail industry, is trying to fix that. Starting today, any salon on the site can post a job for free, and nail techs can apply straight from their phone with their best pictures.
Hiring in this business has never really worked. Owners ask around. They post in a Facebook group. They tape a sign in the window and hope somebody walks in. Techs hear about a shop from a friend, drive across town for a trial day, and only then find out what the pay is and how the schedule runs.
The big job sites do not fill the gap. Indeed and LinkedIn were built for office work, where a resume is the whole story. A nail tech’s story is not on paper. It is in their phone: the ombre, the French, the full sets they finished last week. There has never been a good place to show that to a salon that is actually hiring.
That is what Polish Perfect changed. A tech picks a few photos of their own work, writes a short note, and sends it. The owner sees the work before the first phone call. If it looks right, the two of them message each other on the site. If it does not, nobody lost a Saturday.
Applications are private. Photos go to the owner not onto a public page.
Everything works in English and Vietnamese, and more languages to come, so an owner can post in one language and a tech can read it and apply in the other.
For salons, posting is free and takes a few minutes. Most of it is tapping options rather than writing: what the job pays, what days it covers, what services it involves. The job then shows up on the salon’s own page and on the hiring page for its city, and it runs for a month.
“I grew up around this industry and every owner I know finds techs the same way by asking around and hoping,” said Lynda Le, founder of Polish Perfect. “A tech’s work is visual. If you can see five photos of someone’s gel work before you ever pick up the phone, you save everybody a wasted trial day.”
Polish Perfect already lists more than 1,023 nail salons, supply stores, and schools across California and New York, and it is adding more cities through the rest of the year. Salons and techs can start at polishperfect.co/nail-salons/hiring.
