Tech-enabled E&S MGA Aurenity has appointed Brian Robb as Executive Vice President, Cyber & Technology, marking the company’s entry into the professional liability vertical.
Robb joins from Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), where he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Cyber, Technology E&O and Miscellaneous Professional Liability Underwriting for North America.
In the newly created role, Robb will lead the build-out of Aurenity’s cyber, technology E&O and miscellaneous professional liability offering. He brings more than two decades of professional liability experience across underwriting, claims and litigation. Prior to BHSI, he spent 11 years at CNA, most recently as Underwriting Director and Cyber Industry Leader, where he co-led the launch of CNA CyberPrep, a NIST-based pre-breach vendor panel for policyholders. He previously served as CNA’s Senior Claim Counsel for Global Cyber and Technology Claims, including a secondment to CNA Hardy in London.
Robb began his career as a professional liability defense attorney at Martin Clearwater & Bell. He holds a JD from Brooklyn Law School and an MBA from Baruch College and has co-chaired the Cyber Liabilities Insurance ExecuSummit since 2016.
The move delivers on Aurenity’s strategy to continue to diversify its program offerings and expands on its existing six E&S programs in the Casualty and Property markets.
Nick Davies, Aurenity CEO said “Professional liability was part of our strategy from launch, but we continue to be focused on attracting the right blend of entrepreneurial underwriting talent. Brian’s pedigree in underwriting, claims and law means we have strong leadership in classes where technical pricing and coverage discipline are critical.” Doug Trainor, CUO added, “Brian is one of the most respected cyber underwriters in the business. His appointment gives our carrier partners a new line of diversified, disciplined growth and our brokers a dependable market in a class that demands real expertise.”
The news follows the recently announced growth equity investment in Aurenity by Great Hill Partners. The capital supports Aurenity’s expansion into new specialty lines and its recruitment of senior underwriting talent. It also funds continued development of the company’s pricing and analytics platform, including broader AI adoption across underwriting and operations.
